SCHUCHART LOOKS FOR STRONG FINISH TO 2026 CAMPAIGN
RENO, NV (September 16, 2026) – For the better part of the 2026 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series campaign, Logan Schuchart and his Shark Racing team raced for consistency in one of the toughest forms of motorsports all across the United States. As the team makes the long tow to California following Monday night’s return to the state of Colorado for the first time in a decade, the goals remain in focus for the final 19 nights of action.
“We’re out here to win as many races as we can and that starts with consistency,” said Schuchart, following Monday’s 20th to sixth run at El Paso County Speedway in Calhan, Colorado. “I’ve been doing this a long time and know what it takes and the importance of continuing to improve. We started this season with a new crew and we couldn’t be happier with how well they have gelled. We wanted to win races, challenge for the championship and score a crown jewel win. Other than winning the championship this season, we can still accomplish a lot the next two months.”
This season marked the 13th year for Schuchart to battle night in and night out with “The Greatest Show on Dirt”. He has carried partners RelaDyne and is DuraMAX and Drydene brands along with Federated Auto Parts, TKS Concrete and Mark Martin Motors to do dirt tracks all across the country. After hiring Carly Holmes last November at the World Finals and Bryan Sundby following December’s 2025 PRI show, the 33-year-old along with his stepfather Bill Klingbeil went to work on carrying on the legacy of Schuchart’s late grandfather Bobby Allen.
“Scruffy” built Shark Racing into a World of Outlaws contending team following his dream and using vision, hard work and hope to get there. Both Schuchart and Jacob Allen have been extremely successful with the Outlaws after hitting the road in 2014. In 2024, Schuchart continued racing with the Outlaws while Jacob ventured to the High Limit Series. Last fall, Scuffy passed away leaving a huge whole in the Sprint car world, but in the Bobby Allen way, Schuchart and his team continue pressing on.
“We knew this was going to be a very important season for us,” reflected Schuchart. “My grandpa means so much to me and this was everything he worked for. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for everything he did for me. This was all he knew, lived and dreamed about. I know he’d be proud of what we are doing and the direction we are going.”
The direction by all indicators is heading up. After spending the early months getting back to basics, the results started to improve. The team’s first victory came May 16 ironically at Eldora Speedway, arguably Schuchart’s best track.
“Getting our first win was huge,” continued Schuchart. “We would have liked it to have been a lot sooner, but we all worked really hard to get there. Seeing Bryan, Carly, Bill and everyone in victory lane with all the smiles was really rewarding. We knew we could win races and sometimes getting that first one is the hardest one.”
Throughout the remainder of May and into June, the team had some bright moments. The opening night of Premier Chevy Dealers Clash at Knoxville Raceway provided some confidence for the upcoming big money events. Schuchart was the top qualifier in the 60-plus car field before running up front in the 25-lap feature before ultimately finishing third.
After a pair of top-10 finishes at Cedar Lake Speedway in late June, the team traveled home for a few nights of action during the annual Pennsylvania Speedweek. Schuchart charged from 13th to fourth in the final Steve Smith Memorial race at his sometime Lincoln Speedway. A forgettable night at Hagerstown Speedway three nights later was followed by a third-place finish in the Mitch Smith Memorial at Williams Grove Speedway.
The team headed west the following week and had a fast car at Hartford Speedway in Western Michigan. Schuchart battled inside the top-three until damage to his nose wing resulted in a fifth-place finish. It was the first of three consecutive fifth-place finishes as he raced from 11th and ninth the next two nights at Wilmot Raceway.
Kings Royal week started at the annual Brad Doty Classic and Schucahrt was again one of the drivers to beat. After qualifying fourth, winning his heat and the dash, Schuchart chased early leaders Bryce Lucious and Kyle Larson. A late caution gave Lucious a clean track and Logan finished second. The next two nights opened the Kings Royal festivities with the Joker’s Wild and Joker’s Jackpot events under the High Limit banner. He raced from 10th to sixth in the opener to earn the sixth most points. In Thursday’s 35-lap $100,000 to win race that aired live national television (FS1), he raced from sixth to third following Larson and Rico Abreu to the finish.
In the night before the Royal, Schuchart had to use a provisional and charged from 25th to 8th and after qualifying third to open the Kings Royal, he raced from 15th and crossed the finish line fifth, but was penalized two spots and credited with a 7th-place results.
The run of success in July continued with a runner-up finish north of the border at Ohsweken and a pair of third-place finishes at Weedsport in New York. Schuchart led both main events at the ultra-slick Weedsport, and despite not earning a win, the team trucked home confident.
Schcuhart then scored his best weekend at Williams Grove Speedway in quite some time with a fourth and runner-up finish in the Summer Nationals. That momentum was carried to St. Louis where the team captured the prestigious IronMan. Schuchart led all 55 laps en route to the $25,000 triumph, his second Ironman win.
A week later, the grand daddy of them all was the target and 1s team dug deep with Schuchart charging from his 12th starting position in the 50-lap main event. He reached third with just over five laps remaining, but finished fifth, his fifth top-five in eight Nationals starts.
The team left Knoxville hungry and ready to continue pursuit of World of Outlaws. Another fifth-place finished followed at Ogilvie on Friday, August 15, before the DuraMAX crew traveled to another one of Schuchart’s favorite tracks: the Jackson Motorplex.
With four previous triumphs at the 4/10-mile dirt oval, the goal was to get back to their winning ways. He qualified fourth, won the fourth heat and dash event to start on the pole. He led the first 18 laps before Sheldon Haudenschild took the top spot. Schuchart wasn’t going to be denied as he battled back to claim the top spot with four laps remaining and went on to score the popular victory. The 47th WoO win of his career and fifth at Jackson.
“I’m just happy for my team,” admitted Schuchart following the win. “They’ve been working so hard to get us to this point. We started the season wanting to get to this point and now we just want to keep this going. Get better every night. I couldn’t do without them or all the great partners. The last couple of seasons haven’t been what we’ve wanted and we’re putting in the work. Every night matters and these kind of nights really are special.”
The victory capped a run of 16 top-five finishes in 22 starts since the Speedweek show at Williams Grove. It included nine podium finishes.
Since the Jackson victory, it’s been a bit of roller coaster book ended by KSE Hard Chargers first at River Cities (13th to fifth) on August 28 and Monday at El Paso County Speedway (20th to sixth). Schuchart, Sundby, Holmes and Klingbeil are focused on posting five strong nights in the Golden State over the next 10 days to continue the team’s trajectory ahead of final crown jewel of 2026: the Williams Grove National Open.
“Like I said before, we set some goals after Knoxville that we want to achieve,” concluded Schuchart. “We’re on pace to get some of those and need to be racing for wins at Stockton this weekend. Dennis Roth and his family have done a ton for Sprint car racing and we’d love to hoist that hardware Saturday. I can tell you that we are going to everything we can to give ourselves a shot. I’m excited about this week, the rest of the season and 2027. We have built a great group here and it’s a lot of fun doing what we are doing together.”
