OPENING STATEMENT: SCHUCHART SCORES TWO WINS AND BIG GATOR TO START 2021

BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 8, 2021 – With the focus of many sports fans zeroing in on Florida Super Sunday, Team Drydene’s Logan Schuchart put an exclamation point on the start of the 2021 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series campaign. Schuchart wheeled the Drydene Performance Products/DRF Racing Formulas Shark Racing No. 1s to victory in Sunday’s finale of the 50th DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida to conclude a remarkable first week of Sprint car competition.

The victory capped a week of dominance by the Hanover, PA driver. He won Wednesday night’s DIRTcar opener, sanctioned by the All-Star Circuit of Champions, after starting 13th and finished second on Thursday. He charged from 7th to second Friday night in the Outlaws’ 2021 season opener. The consistency of his four top-two finishes earned the Shark Racing team the DIRTcar Nationals title and iconic “Big Gator.

“It was an incredible start to our season,” said Schuchart. “We couldn’t be here with the great support of Drydene Performance Products. We were confident when we showed up here to practice Tuesday and just kept getting better every night. It was great having Dave Klinger down here to support us and also having Drydene customers enjoy this with us is what it’s all about. We needed power and reliability all week and the DRF we run kept us ahead of the competition. We are all so excited about the start of the season.”

Schuchart’s teammate and fellow Team Drydene racer, Jacob Allen, finished seventh and eighth in the opening two WoO A-Mains, his best two finishes at the track, to begin his eighth season with “The Greatest Show on Dirt.”

Sunday’s win was Schuchart’s 24th career World of Outlaws A-Main triumph and second at Volusia. Since the start of the 2019 season, Shark Racing has won 17 WoO A-Mains and every one of them has been with DRF in their Newman’s Racing Engines.

“We had confidence coming down here, but when it pays off like it means a lot,” Schuchart . “When your confidence is high, your team feels good, and you perform better. It definitely feels good doing this against the quality of cars we had here. The Outlaws are so stacked this year and we’ve got a lot of good invaders joining us. My grandfather’s dream is looking awesome, though. I’m really proud of this Shark Racing team.”

Schuchart leaves Florida as the point leader over two-time and reigning WoO champion Brad Sweet. It’s just the start of a 90-plus nights of racing that concludes in Charlotte in November.  Be sure to catch every lap of every WoO race, both Sprints and Late Models, live on DIRTVision.com presented by Drydene.
