The 2021 World of Outlaws season has certainly been a roller coaster ride for Logan Schuchart. The driver of the Drydene Performance Products / C&D Rigging/ NGK Spark Plugs Shark Racing No. 1s has felt the highs and lows and those were both experinced during the 67th running of the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California.
After a tough break on the opening lap of Friday’s WoO 35-lap A-Main, Schuchart left know doubt Saturday putting on a dominant display and picking up his first Gold Cuptriumph and first career win at Silver Dollar.
“It’s pretty awesome to win such a prestigious race like this in California,” Schuchart said to a nearly sold-out crowd. “Being a Pennsylvania boy growing up out there we’re not used to this kind of stuff, but it’s something I’ve grown accustomed to being on the road and all these different tracks. It’s awesome to get back up here in victory lane.”
Schuchart was poised to make a run forward Friday night. The Hanover, PA native was looking forward to returning to the famous quarter-mile bullring after charging from 12th to third in the 2019 Gold Cup. He qualified 7th, raced his way into the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash and started the main inside of his Shark Racing and Drydene teammate Jacob Allen in row eight.Contact on the opening lap resulted in a broke front axle and frustration for the driver of the 1s.
He and his team came back Saturday focused on winning and that’s just what they did. He earned his seventh quicktime award to start the night and then finished second in the opening heat race. Schuchart started fourth and finished second in the dash to put the Drydene machine on the front row for the 40-lap A-Main.
Kasey Kahne paced the field from the pole and Schuchart was in chase. Tanner Carrick moved from third to first and held the top spot until lap 25 when he pulled in because of fuel cell problem. Schuchart was battling Brad Sweet for second and closing on Carrick before the caution on lap 25. Schuchart restarted the race with the lead and thwarted off several challenges from Sweet to score his fifth WoO A-Main triumph of the year and 28th of his career, just two shy of tying his grandfather and sprint car legend Bobby Allen on the Outlaws All-Time win list.
“I’m happy we got this win the right way, though,” said Schuchart. “Didn’t do anything dumb or put ourselves in a bad spot, we just raced hard the way it’s supposed to be. Winning is the best form of payback.”
The victory continues a terrific west coast run for Schuchart and his Shark Racing crew of Ron Helmick, Ben Witman, Jack Eckard. He led laps during the Sage Fruit Skagit Nationals finale before finishing third. The following night, he dominated the Labor Day stop at Grays Harbor Raceway claiming the victory after leading all 35 laps of the main event.
Schuchart and Co. will look to put an exclamation point on the trip Saturday at Keller Auto Speedway, where there is a $21,000 first prize check on the line. Schuchart’s put on a show at Keller before racing from 19th to victory back in March of 2017.
JACKSON, Minn. (June 27, 2021) – Logan Schuchart let out his best Ric Flair impression in Victory Lane on Sunday at Jackson Motorplex, where he mastered the final three quarters of the 43rd annual AGCO Jackson Nationals main event to earn the $50,000 top prize.
“Hell yeah, man,” he exclaimed. “$50,000. Woooooooo!”
Schuchart was just as entertaining in the arena as the ‘Nature Boy’ while putting it on his opponents, winning the highest-paying World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series feature so far this season by more than four seconds and lapping half of the field. The victory was his second straight at the crown jewel event and it made Schuchart one of five different winners during six nights of THE SHOWDOWN competition within the last eight days.
Schuchart took the lead on the start of the 35-lap race, but a caution on the opening lap set up a complete restart. David Gravel capitalized by darting from third into the lead after hitting the bottom in turns one and two and executing a slide job on Schuchart in turns three and four.
Gravel led the first seven laps before the second-and-final caution came out on Lap 8 when Donny Schatz, who was running fifth, stopped on the track. Gravel chose the inside lane for the double-file restart, but didn’t launch into the lead when the green flag was waved. Gravel and Schuchart stayed side by side throughout three quarters of the lap before Gravel slid across the track in turns three and four. Schuchart turned underneath the slide job and narrowly led the lap.
That was as close as anyone got to Schuchart during the remainder of the race as he pulled away in traffic.
“You never know how long you should push,” he said. “This is probably the best track we’ve had all week and it was during the day. The other night I started to be a little conservative to conserve tires and then Kerry (Madsen) blows right by me.”
The aggressive approach on Sunday worked as Gravel finished 4.454 seconds behind Schuchart.
“He was good in lapped traffic,” Gravel said. “I wish I had a better restart. It kind of stumbled and he got a run on me. He had the dominant car in traffic. I wish I had that chance to try to control the race in the lead.
“If we got to do it again we’d probably do a couple of things different. It’s a little disappointing, but nothing to hang our heads about. It’s definitely a positive day.”
World of Outlaws points leader Brad Sweet passed Kerry Madsen, who won both preliminary nights, on Lap 19 to round out the podium.

BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 8, 2021 – With the focus of many sports fans zeroing in on Florida Super Sunday, Team Drydene’s Logan Schuchart put an exclamation point on the start of the 2021 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series campaign. Schuchart wheeled the Drydene Performance Products/DRF Racing Formulas Shark Racing No. 1s to victory in Sunday’s finale of the 50th DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida to conclude a remarkable first week of Sprint car competition.
The victory capped a week of dominance by the Hanover, PA driver. He won Wednesday night’s DIRTcar opener, sanctioned by the All-Star Circuit of Champions, after starting 13th and finished second on Thursday. He charged from 7th to second Friday night in the Outlaws’ 2021 season opener. The consistency of his four top-two finishes earned the Shark Racing team the DIRTcar Nationals title and iconic “Big Gator.
“It was an incredible start to our season,” said Schuchart. “We couldn’t be here with the great support of Drydene Performance Products. We were confident when we showed up here to practice Tuesday and just kept getting better every night. It was great having Dave Klinger down here to support us and also having Drydene customers enjoy this with us is what it’s all about. We needed power and reliability all week and the DRF we run kept us ahead of the competition. We are all so excited about the start of the season.”
Schuchart’s teammate and fellow Team Drydene racer, Jacob Allen, finished seventh and eighth in the opening two WoO A-Mains, his best two finishes at the track, to begin his eighth season with “The Greatest Show on Dirt.”
Sunday’s win was Schuchart’s 24th career World of Outlaws A-Main triumph and second at Volusia. Since the start of the 2019 season, Shark Racing has won 17 WoO A-Mains and every one of them has been with DRF in their Newman’s Racing Engines.
“We had confidence coming down here, but when it pays off like it means a lot,” Schuchart . “When your confidence is high, your team feels good, and you perform better. It definitely feels good doing this against the quality of cars we had here. The Outlaws are so stacked this year and we’ve got a lot of good invaders joining us. My grandfather’s dream is looking awesome, though. I’m really proud of this Shark Racing team.”
Schuchart leaves Florida as the point leader over two-time and reigning WoO champion Brad Sweet. It’s just the start of a 90-plus nights of racing that concludes in Charlotte in November. Be sure to catch every lap of every WoO race, both Sprints and Late Models, live on DIRTVision.com presented by Drydene.

• Drydene Performance Products Enters Third Season As Primary Sponsor for Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen
• NGK Spark Plugs returns as a key partner for a third consecutive WoO tour with Shark Racing
• C&D Rigging Inc. steps up as a major Associate Partner in 2021
• JVI Group joins the team as “Official Transportation Partner” of Shark Racing
• Taggart’s Powersports also new to team in 2021
HANOVER, Pennsylvania (January 8, 2021) – “Never Give Up” has always been the mantra for Bobby Allen. The Hall of Fame Sprint car driver and Shark Racing’s leader always wanted to be the best and for everyone that loves a feel good story, they are happy “Scruffy” has never given up his desire to do so.
One of the “Original Outlaws” will continue his passion for success competing with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series (WoO) this season with his son, Jacob Allen, and grandson, Logan Schuchart, at dirt tracks all across the United States.
Shark Racing begins its eighth year of competition with the Outlaws February 5, 2021 at Volusia Speedway Park near Barberville, Florida during the 50th DIRTcar Nationals where they will be looking add to their gator collection after Schuchart capped last year’s event with a thrilling triumph.
“This has been my dream to get these boys out here not only racing with the Outlaws, but competing for wins a championship,” said Allen. “It took everyone that ever helped me to get us here and I can’t thank them all enough. There were a lot of doubters when we came out here in 2014 that we could make. Like I said with the help of a lot people and the hard work of Logan and Jacob and the guys that we have had working for us, we are getting there. In 2017 and 2018, we started getting sponsors that helped us make a move upward and then in 2019 and 2020 when Dave Klinger and Drydene stepped up in a big way and we added NGK, Kevin and Doug from C&D last year, we proved we can compete at the highest level. I’m excited that we have added new partners like JVI this year and hopefully we can continue our climb.”
Schuchart’s 2020 opening weekend victory was a preview of what was to come for the central Pennsylvania-based team during a season that required a lot of perseverance. Schuchart was in the WoO championship mix throughout the campaign following his first Volusia triumph, leading the points standings in May and again in August.
The 28-year-old also scored his first crown jewel event triumph with his Jackson Nationals victory last June, a win that added Schuchart’s name to list of winners that includes his grandfather, who claimed the Jackson Nationals in 1986. In all, Schuchart captured seven WoO A-Main triumphs concluding the Outlaws season with a win at Charlotte last November. Schuchart wasn’t the only Drydene Performance Products driver to score a WoO A-Main victory in 2020. After numerous runner-up finishes, Jacob Allen became an Outlaw winner in September with his victory at Dodge City Raceway Park. The win was celebrated by almost everyone in motorsports as social media blew up after Allen crossed the finish line ahead of Schuchart on that fall Friday night.
The goal for Shark Racing is to continue climbing the ladder in one of racing’s premiere and, arguably, most grueling series. In 2021, the Shark Racing is looking to consistently compete for wins and a championship. Goals made possible through what they have learned during the past seven seasons on the road and also because of the people that support the team. A core group of crew members that includes Tyler Garber, Ronald Helmick, Ben Witman and Brendan Collum provides stability in a sport that has very unique challenges.
The right combination of partners, personnel and equipment are the key to maintaining Shark Racing’s trajectory towards the top.
DRYDENE MEANS BUSINESS
For the third consecutive season, Drydene Performance Products, who offers a full product line of motor and grease oils, transmission and hydraulic fluids and diesel exhaust fluids, will serve as the primary sponsor on Allen’s No. 1a and Schuchart’s 1s. Since first jumping on Schuchart’s No. 1s machine back in May 2018 at Charlotte, Drydene has become a prominent influence in grassroots racing, with major sponsorships in WoO Late Models including Ricky Weiss, Chris Madden, Scott Bloomquist and Rick Eckert, to being presenting sponsors of DIRTVision and official partners of both the WoO Sprint and Late Model series. Drydene’s commitment to Shark Racing has been a major factor in the teams ascension to the upper echelon of the WoO Sprint series.
The company’s commitment to Shark Racing and the sport runs deeper than just branding on the cars, uniforms, hats and t-shirts. In January 2019, Drydene began developing a racing oil, Drydene Racing Formulas (DRF), and worked closely with Newman’s Racing Engines analyzing both the on-track performance, Shark Racing has won 16 WoO A-Mains since they started exclusively using the racing oil, and improved engine and component wear. The results have proven to be everything Drydene was hoping for.
CONTINUITY FROM NGK, C&D RIGGING AND PELLS TIRE SERVICE
Partnerships have been vital for Logan and Jacob’s growth. Major Associate partners NGK Spark Plugs and C&D Rigging continue to be integral parts of Shark Racing. NGK has provided spark plugs for Shark Racing since 2018 and increased their support the past two seasons. Schuchart has enjoyed being an NGK brand ambassador and participated in several promotions with Team NGK. Shark Racing is looking forward to continuing to build this relationship in 2021.
Timing is everything and last January C&D Rigging Inc. owners Kevin Sassaman and Doug Hetrick attended SHARKFEST just weeks before the team headed to Florida. That’s all it took and they joined the team as sponsors before the event concluded. The company, a full service rigging and millwrighting contractor, was founded in April 2013 and provides scheduled maintenance, emergency services and new construction. Sassaman and Hetrick were in Volusia for Speedweeks and along with their families supported the team at a number of events throughout 2020 and the team is looking forward to having their friends from C&D at a number of races in 2021 as well.
For those that have followed Scruffy’s career, they’ll recognize Pell’s Tire Service. The Coldwarter, Michigan company owned by Mark Pell has supported Allen since he was driving and continued that from the moment Logan and Jacob began competing. Mark is at the track when the team is racing anywhere close to Michigan and reported that Pells Tire Service, just like Shark Racing, had an terrific year in 2020.
JVI GROUP BECOMES OFFICIAL TRANSPORTATION PARTNER FOR SHARK RACING
Successfully traveling across the country and competing in the demanding 90-plus nights of action can be one of the toughest parts about being a full time Outlaw. Anyone that knows the Shark Racing story can recall some of the challenges the team has faced during their time on the road. Shark Racing is proud to announce the addition of JVI Group as the official transportation partner of the team. JVI Group’s Sam Elicker is big supporter of short track racing and the team is excited to represent the Dillsburg, PA based company that offers a full range of construction services from excavation, paving, plowing and equipment hauling.
#IWANTTOPUSHSHARKRACING
Shark Racing is also pleased to announce the addition of Taggart’s Powersports Inc. as a Shark Racing supporter. The team will utilize a pair of 2021 Polaris Phoenix 200’s to get their cars to the staging lanes and pushed out for the A-Mains each night. Allen and Schuchart will also use the ATV’s to check out the tracks during race nights. Be on the lookout for news of a special promotion around this partnership being held in June.
PRODUCT PARTNERSHIPS REMAIN IN TACT
Bobby Allen has built his Shark Racing team over the years with hard work and collaborating with very smart people.
Shark Racing has their own dedicated engine program, which “Scruffy” admits is one of the main reasons Logan and Jacob can complete for wins every night. Michael Newman works closely with the team to stay ahead of the competition and has high-performing reliable engines. DRF, NGK, All-Pro Cylinder heads, BAM Lifters, Diamond Pistons, Engler Machine & Tool, Smith Titanium, Walker Filtration, Schoenfeld Headers, and Donovan all help keep Shark Racing near the top of the board each night.
Both drivers will continue run Triple X race cars and utilize a number of components from DMI, Smith Titanium and Moose Blocks, Inc. Factory Kahne shocks and Keizer Wheels are also key to the team’s success and both Logan and Jacob are protected by using products from Bell Helmets and K1 RaceGear.

OPENING STATEMENT: SCHUCHART SCORES TWO WINS AND BIG GATOR TO START 2021
SHARK RACING CONTINUING BOBBY ALLEN’S DREAM COMPETING WITH THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS IN 2021
• Drydene Performance Products Enters Third Season As Primary Sponsor for Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen
